Teaching Creativity with the Common Core Standards
Launched June 22, 2011
School leaders across Los Angeles County are invited to participate in a new professional development series developed by Arts for All lead partners the LA County Arts Commission and Office of Education. Intended for assistant superintendents with teams of up to five elementary school principals, the free, quarterly series, Teaching Creativity with the Common Core Standards, launched on June 22, 2011 at the Huntington Library and Gardens.
The series is particularly timely as states across the nation, including California, are adopting the new national Common Core standards for curriculum and accompanying changes in student assessment.
Participants gathered at the Huntington for the first session on June 22. Subsequent sessions will be held at two regional centers to encourage the formation of regional learning communities: Huntington Library and Gardens, Pasadena (North-East Region) and the Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach (South-West Region).
